Our product standards
We believe in lab-grown diamonds that glow rather than glare. Our discerningly curated inventory focuses on the rare: champagne, cognac, and warm brown hues that offer a unique alternative to the traditional colorless stone. Every lab-grown diamond we offer is carefully selected in its rough crystal state and then transformed by precision cutting and polish. Pairing a rare color palette with the exactness of our unique facet patterns allows our retailers to offer truly unmatched designs.
What type of lab-grown diamonds can I purchase from The Golden Facet?
We sell CVD lab-grown diamonds with a guarantee of no treatments.
Do The Golden Facet stones come with reports or certificates?
Some of our stones come with IGI reports. These tend to be larger or higher value stones. Others are sold with our in-house grading specs listed on each product listing.
What is the difference between a report and a certificate?
We want to do our part and perpetuate accurate education and information in our industry. No entity (IGI, GIA or any other laboratory) “certifies” or issues a “certification” on any stone. These labs issue “reports” on subjective criteria scales in the most objective way possible.
Do I need a report on my stone?
Short answer, no, It’s entirely optional.
At The Golden Facet, we believe you should fall in love with how a stone looks, not the paperwork. A report offers data, but it can’t capture the feeling. The reality? You can place two stones with identical "report" specs side-by-side and find that one radiates light while the other looks a bit... well, dull. Because of this, we don’t sell stones by their reports; we curate outliers. Every stone we offer is guaranteed lab-grown, untreated, and hand-selected specifically to outshine the rest.
What if I want a report on my stone?
If you desire a report on a stone that you purchase, we are happy to submit it on your behalf for reporting. We do not charge for this concierge service of submission, but do pass along the cost of shipping to and from the lab, and the report cost to you. If you are unhappy with the grading results on the report, we happily accept a return of your stone and issue a refund—minus the cost of the report and shipping fees.
What is the Champagne Color Grade Spectrum?
We grade our stones on the champagne color scale: C1-C8. C1 is the lightest, most faint brown and ranges all the way to C8, which is a rich, saturated deep brown. The scale is not formally recognized by grading laboratories on their reports, but is a commonly referenced scale when describing brown-colored diamonds across our industry. On formal reports issued by grading laboratories, reports will indicate color on the D-Z color scale with brown color modifiers instead of a C1-C8 grading.
What about clarity in champagne diamonds?
We grade our stones on the same clarity scale as IGI/GIA, which is the IF-I2 range: from Internally Flawless to Visible Inclusion II. All stones sold at The Golden Facet are "eye clean (Si1+)", with the vast majority grading VS and above. Stones graded VS and above will need a loupe to see any imperfection characteristics.
Sourcing
Where do The Golden Facet stones come from?
Our stones start as diamond “seeds” in a laboratory-like factory that grows CVD lab diamonds. After several weeks of growing, the rough is then selected and purchased for its unique color. The warm colors we seek to share are an anomaly in the mass-produced colorless lab-grown diamond production system. This rough is incredibly hard to come by in true brown tones! After the rough is secured, expert lapidarians digitally map the shape and cut of the lab-grown diamond. The rough is then cut and polished with perfect precision by a select group of skilled experts, just for us. Once cut, the diamonds are brought to market via The Golden Facet, and shipped to you!

Wait, isn't saying “rare lab-grown diamond” an oxymoron?
Technically? Yes. But here, we deal in the exceptions, not the rules.
White lab diamonds can be a dime a dozen. They are mass-produced for duplication and replicated for the "rinse and repeat" mainstream market. In this process, accidents happen and off colored diamond rough can be produced. Usually these colors present as a microwaved pinkish brown, or a muddy off yellow that looks oddly burnt. A truly vibrant, honey-toned lab diamond on the C3-C5 champagne color scale is like finding a needle in a haystack: rare!
Dreaming of something custom?
We love a custom project, but we don’t do "rushed."
Finding rough material that meets our uncompromising standards is a literal hunt. We’re constantly scouring, but because we refuse to settle for anything less than spectacular color and clarity, the timeline can be a bit open-ended.
If your schedule has room for perfection, we’re in. We don't just cut stones; we curate masterpieces, and the best ones are worth the wait.
